October 2026 Update

4 dancers emerging from a northern forest into a grassy clearing

This image says it all. What an exuberant ending to a long process of creating. These dancers and musicians performed 14 times plus 4 dress rehearsals, a rare opportunity, longed for but mostly unattainable. We only had to cancel one day thanks to MC whose weather predictions were completely dependable. In all, approximately 550 people came to see the piece.

For the accessibility services we offered - mobility, visual and hearing support - we responded to 37 requests from people who might not have been able to experience forest otherwise. Judy Chalmer spearheaded the effort to make forest accessible.

On that last Sunday, the energy and emotions were high. After we returned to the “green room” our hosts gave us a gift of a song which had us all in tears. Such a sweet way to end forest.

The next day, I gathered up costumes, suitcases, boxes of Welcome Table material and brought them home to put away. The day after that, Markus and Dana from Redstart as well as Kate from Vermont Woodlands Association helped bring all the rest of the set elements home - three trucks loaded and unloaded into the storage places.  Now I tidy up the loose ends, pay the ensemble, write letters of gratitude to the many many people who contributed to making this happen, and begin to work on the movie of the piece.

The film will be done by the end of the year and we plan to tour around the state. If you are interested in hosting the film at your town hall or library, please be in touch.

Lastly, we will have notecards for sale through the website next month. Stunning images by Julia Barstow, designed by Linda Provost.
