Early May 2026 Update

A still from a performance from FOREST.

Last September, Jude Domski filmed footage of the test run of Forest. You have seen clips, little teasers over the past several months. For this newsletter, I want to feature Jude’s  ten-minute film that was specifically created for a multimedia performance at the Green Mountain Film Festival's 25th Anniversary Opening Celebration, presented in Montpelier, VT, on March 13, 2026. It is a beautiful, luscious moving art piece that captures so much of the powerful and understated majesty of trees.

The film was projected onto a traditional film screen suspended at the back of the stage. A second version of the film was simultaneously projected, wide angle, full size of the stage, onto organza panels. These panels, created by Andy Wasserman, had an image of trees silk-screened on the surface. The dancers moved amongst the panels so the films was both behind the dancers as well as projected onto them. The panels and projections created the environment, acting as both set and light, for the performance.

I have included a photo from the evening by Andy so you can glimpse the layers.

We have stunning posters and handout cards, designed by Linda Provost with photographs by Julia Barstow starting to be distributed. Keep your eye out.
