Hello to all of you,

Things for Forest are moving along.

Let me introduce you to the artistic partners:
Costume & set designer, Leslie Anderson; photographer, Julia Barstow; poet, Judith Chalmer; filmmaker, Jude Domski; musician & composer, Matt LaRocca; writer Steve Long; my assistant, Jessie Owens; choreographic help from Ellen Smith Ahern and Chloe Schafer, and an ensemble of 20 dancers and musicians will illuminate the places in the forest.

Since August 2024, I have been working on this piece, meeting with Jessie regularly, selecting the forests for 2026, walking the test road with all of the artists involved, talking to dancers, and creating the seeds of dances with Ellen and Chloe.

Several of the key funders of my work have promised support.

This fall, I will do a test of all the components to date. Seven dancers will present the choreography so far. Of the myriad of details to test, I am particularly interested in line of site for the small, invited group who will look through the trees to the dance.

In October, all the dancers will gather to try out three dances in the forest at Hubbard Park in Montpelier.

We begin workshop/rehearsal In April & June, July & August of 2026 with performances starting at the end of the summer and into September. More information will be forthcoming.

Next month I will share some images from the test in September and open the door for donations.

May the end of the summer have moments of calm and quiet.

More next month.
